Yep, it’s me, back again to share yet another bit of story *research* with you.
I’m rolling my eyes at myself. I’m on a 4-day writing retreat – at my home, with promises from my husband and both cats that they will NOT caterwaul outside my office door, or ask for lunch suggestions, or otherwise interrupt my creative process between the hours of 9:00am-2:00pm.
It’s Day One, and already I’ve interrupted myself to research the *meanings* and healing properties of opals. I’ve learned there are common or potch opals; fire opals; and precious opals. I’ve learned there is a multitude of varieties amongst the 3 main types of opals. And from all that information – plus scrolling through images of stones and jewelry – I had to decide which types of opals to include in a minor scene in this book.
At this point, I have no idea if I will even keep the scene. But, such is the life of a writer.
Anyhoo… back to the Scrivener file and my goal of 2500 new words per day on this book (and no, I can’t cheat and include the words in this blog post, darnit).
While you’re here, check out my next Kickstarter (launches Feb. 28, 2023)
