Here’s what I’m thinking:
- It’s a good time for me to go quiet across social media. The writing community on Twitter has been my go-to spot for years and right now, the place is a mess.
- It’s a good time for me to pause my newsletter. My own inboxes are stuffed with “BLACK FRIDAY” offers. I’m overwhelmed, and I doubt I’m the only one similarly affected.
- It’s a good time to sink into the world I’ve been creating over 5 years, through 14 fantasy books, and let the writing take precedence over everything else (okay, except for eating and sleeping and hanging out with family and friends and cats. Oh, and binge-watching ‘The Big Brunch’, lol).
- It’s a good time to start building a plan for 2023. On my list already is running a series of Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns, and working with a local illustrator to create more images for my goddesses-in-the-modern-world series.
I’m embracing the fact that I’m a hot mess when it comes to applying any semblance of consistency to my book marketing efforts. Will I do better in 2023? I don’t know. What I do know is, the fewer things clamoring for my attention, the better I’ll do.
Until next time.
